The North Babylon Fire Company was called to an Espie Lane home Monday June 2, 2014 about 5:40 a.m. for a reported fire. Third Assistant Chief Harrington had the alarm re-sounded as a working fire as he had smoke visible from a distance. When Chief Harrington arrived, followed by First and Second Assistant Chiefs Cabano and Caroleo the home was well involved on the first and second floors, and all the occupants out safely. First Due Engine 1-8-2 picked up a hydrant and stretched three lines into the house with the crews of Engine 1-8-3 and 1-8-8. Ladder 1-8-6 took the front of the house and it's crew began searches and venting. Mutual aid was requested from the Babylon Fire Department for RIT, the West Islip Fire Department for an additional Ladder(3-17-4) and the Deer Park Fire Department for an additional Engine(Squad 1-4-6) It took about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control with no reported injuries, the cause is under investigation. First Assistant Chief Cabano was in charge of the alarm.
