On Thursday, May 16, 2013 @ 10:51am the North Babylon Vol. Fire Company was alerted by Babylon Central Fire Alarm of an industrial accident with a male who has his arm stuck in a machine. Babylon Central advised 2nd Assistant Chief John Caroleo that aviation was put on standby. Our first responder was the first unit on scene who advised the arm had been removed and that aviation would be utilized. Chief Caroleo immediately requested aviation to respond, with a ten minute eta. All engines were relocated to the determined landing zone of Peter J. Brennan school on Mount Avenue. Babylon Central advised Chief Caroleo of an ALS (Advanced Life Support) provider being offered from Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp. They responded and were on scene within 4 minutes. The injured was transported by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for further care and evaluation. All units were back in service within 1 hour of the initial alarm.
