At 8:00pm on Sunday, October 28th the North Babylon Vol. Fire Company went on a standby for Hurricane Sandy. During that time, the North Babylon Firefighters and Rescue personnel responded to over 70 calls for help as Hurricane Sandy brought hurricane force winds and rain to the area.

The North Babylon Fire Company also assisted some of our neighboring Departments that cover south of Montauk Highway with 2 of our high water rescue trucks when the storm surged and created devastating flooding.

At the height of the storm LIPA reported over 945,000 customers across Long Island without power.
