| On Saturday, May 19, 2012 the North Babylon Vol. Fire Co. was alerted by Babylon Central Fire Alarm @ 2302 hrs. for a report of a house fire on Saint George Avenue. Safety Officer 1-8-46 was the first unit to arrive on scene and requested to the Chief for a retone of a working house fire and reported to responding units of a heavy fire condition pushing out a second floor bedroom window and that all victims were reported out of the house. The crew from first due apparatus engine 8 quickly stretched the handline to the front door, while the crew from tower ladder 6 began the primary search and ventilation of the 2nd floor. The crews from engine 1, engine 2, engine 4 and heavy rescue 5 stretched a second attack line, secured the structure with ladders and assisted with all other operations as necessary. The fire was quickly knocked down and overhaul began. Mutual aid was given by the Wyandanch Vol. Fire Co., Babylon Fire Department and the Deer Park Fire Department. All units were under the command of Chief George Folise. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. |
