| On Friday June 10, 2011 @ 10:31 hrs the North Babylon Fire Company was alerted to respond with one (1) engine to the scene at Mid Island Auto Wreckers on Long Island Avenue in Deer Park for multiple vehicle fires under a detached awning. After the fire was extinguished it was noticed that 2- 100lb propane tanks and 1- 100lb oxygen tank had been compromised and leaking their contents. The Town of Babylon Fire Marshal's Office was on scene and requested 1-0-49 to respond with the necessary equipment to burn off the residual contents in all the cylinders. All units were released and back in service in approximately 3 hours with no injuries reported. |
