North Babylon Respnds to Garbage Truck Fire

On Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11:43am the North Babylon Fire Company was alerted to a reported truck fire at Deer Park Avenue and Pinto Street by Babylon Central Fire Alarm. When Assistant Chief Brian Cullen arrived on scene he advised all responding units of a fully involved garbage truck. The report was given to have a water supply established on arrival. Engine 1-8-8 arrived on scene and began initial operations and engine 1-8-4 secured a hydrant. All crews assisted in stretching multiple hose lines and opening up the side of the trash compartment with saws.

Chief Cullen requested a pay loader from the Town of Babylon to respond with to assist with the trash in the roadway. No injuries were reported and all units were back in service in approximately 2 hours. All units were under command of Assistant Chief Brian Cullen.
