North Babylon Responds To Basement Fire

At 22:28 hrs the North Babylon Fire Company was alerted by Babylon Central Fire Alarm of a reported basement fire on Young Street.

Upon the arrival of 2nd Assistant Chief James Harrington the report of smoke showing was given to all responding units. 3rd Assistant Chief Brian Cullen gave the initial size up report to Chief Harrington that there was a active fire and a working fire was transmitted.

The initial attack was made by the crew of engine 1-8-2 while the primary search was initiated by the crew on ladder 1-8-6. Upon the arrival of all other units assistance was given in the extinguishment of the fire and all other necessary operations.

All units were under the command of Chief Rob Cabano. No injuries were reported and all units were released in approximately 1 hour.

Tower Ladder: 1-8-6
Heavy Rescue: 1-8-5
Rescue: 1-8-7, 1-8-17

The following mutual aid departments were called to assist at the scene and also to back fill our district for other alarms.

West Babylon Fire Department
West Islip Fire Department

While operating at the scene of the basement fire we received 2 rescue alarms. They were handled by Deer Park and West Islip.
