North Babylon Responds To West Islip Ice Rescue Drill

On Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 0800 hrs. The North Babylon Vol. Fire Company Ice Rescue team along with the Babylon Fire Department Marine Unit participated in a surface ice rescue drill hosted by the West Islip Fire Department.

Various methods of victim extrication were performed by both single and two man operating teams. Some of the methods deployed where the use of the basic rope line wrap, the tether (yellow sling) and use of a sled.

In addition to victim extraction, self rescue was practiced for use incase of an emergency situations for the rescuers.

The drill was a success and the North Babylon Fire Company would like to thank the West Islip Fire Department for the invitation to participate in the drill.
