Southerrn State Pkwy Car Fire

On February 26, 2013 at approximately 7:28am the North Babylon Vol. Fire Company was alerted by Babylon Central Fire Alarm for a reported car fire on the Southern State Parkway Eastbound in the vicinity of Belmont Avenue. First arriving unit 1st Assistant Chief Robert Cabano confirmed a location of Eastbound between Straight Path and Little East Neck Rd with a fully involved automobile. Chiefs Cabano and Harrington secured 2 lanes of the Parkway with engines 1-8-1 and 1-8-8 to allow the crew from engine 1-8-2 to extinguish the fire safely and quickly. All units were under the command of Chief Cabano. No injuries reported and the Parkway was fully reopened in about a half hour.
