| On Saturday, April 21, 2012 Ladder 6 of the North Babylon Fire Company Station 3 was asked to assist with a flag detail. Ladder 6 was teamed up with a ladder truck from the the Center Moriches Fire Department.
The ladder trucks were set up at the entrance to the cemetery with a huge American flag displayed as part of the funeral services. Bravest came from near and far to pay their respects for Lieutenant Richard Nappi who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on April 16, 2012.
Lt. Nappi is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, and their children Catherine, 12, and Nicholas, 11.
At the request of the officers and members of Engine 237, a scholarship fund has been established by the FDNY Foundation for Lt. Nappi's children.
